DMI takes an innovative approach to designing program plans based on the family, not the program.  The program focuses on meeting the individual developmental needs of each unique child and family in their natural environments.  DMI recognizes the importance of natural environment services based on the definition of natural environment as a location that must be able to exist without the program’s involvement.

Individual DMI program plans are implemented in a variety of natural settings that are determined by each family to fit their daily living.  Since many families are not accustomed to service plans, DMI administers a detailed interview to gather information in order to assist the family in creating a program plan to be implemented in what the family considers their natural environment.  Due to the innumerable natural environment possibilities, DMI provides a Resource Directory to share with the families to help them decide appropriate settings for their services to take place.  The directory includes settings such as play dates in the community, toddler gym classes, aquatic classes, kinder music classes, library story times, park and recreation programs, etc.  DMI strives to uniquely design each program plan to most to each family’s daily life.  On a quarterly basis, plans are reviewed and current program environments are continued or new sites are implemented.

DMI is able to provide all services in natural environments: speech/occupational/physical therapy, developmental intervention, and parent training.  DMI has designed hundreds of service plans that exist in the family’s natural settings and are pleased to demonstrate ongoing growth and development to continue to provide quality, individualized services to DMI families.
